Melbourne 1981

The large construction company FLUOR had tendered for the construction of a new coalmine in Central Queensland and had selected me as admninistration
manager on their team. We drove down to Melbourne so that I could be "'fluorised" into the intricacies of their company policies.
Shirley and I booked into the grand old Majestic Private Hotel on St Kilda Road which was just a skip and a jump from the
FLUOR office. St Kilda Road was a bit of a Red Light district and I remember on my way to work I used to walk past a nightclub called
"My Bare Lady". FLUOR did not win the coalmine job but held out hope for other assignments. Not being one to wait for things to happen,
I bowed out and travelled north again. We had left our caravan at Noel's place at Caboolture with instructions to sell it if he could find a buyer.
Just when we were ready to use it again, he send us a cheque in the mail with a note to say he had sold it, so we adopted Plan B and bought a tent.
